How to Play a B Note on Bass Guitar
In this video, you'll learn how to play B on bass guitar in several different ways. The clip is hosted by Charles Mumford from the band Final Gravity. You can play the note on different strings and in different octaves. If your bass guitar has 24 frets instead of the usual 20, you'll even be able to play it one more different way.
Step 1: Select Your Preferred Octave
Due to the length of the necks on just about all bass guitars, you'll be able to play two octaves on some of the strings. Depending on the tune you'd like to play, you can pick either the higher B note or the lower B note. Step 2: Pick the String You'd like to Use
Each of the four strings on you bass guitar can play B. Step 3: Play Your Chosen B Note
After you've selected your preferred octave and preferred string, the only thing left to do is to go ahead and play the note! However, you can also control the sound of the note with the way you strum the string. Strumming the string lightly and quickly can lead to a more solid sounding tone, while plucking the string can give your sound a grimier edge.
