The guitar has six strings with the B string being the fifth. A guitar is a relatively simple instrument to learn and learning the B chord is no exception.

First, identify the string. It is the fifth string on the second fret. A guitar is played by laying your fingers across all the strings above the root. This is referred to as a bar. With your left hand fingers, place them on the right side to the middle of the fret. This is to increase tone and sustain.

Take your middle finger on your left hand and position it on the fourth fret of the fourth string. Place your ring finger from you left hand on the fourth fret of the third string. This is the root of the B chord. Take the pinky finger from your left hand on the fourth fret of the second string. This produces D# - the third of the cord. Strum all four notes and you will produce the B chord.

Slide the chord up one fret. Then slide it again, only this time you will want to slide the chord up two or more frets. Continue to practice moving the chord anywhere on the fret board.

The B chord can be played in both Minor and Major. To play the cord in Minor position your index finger from your left hand on the first string of the 3rd fret. Place your ring finger from your left hand on the fourth string, on the 4th fret. Position your pinky finger from your left hand on the third string of the 4th fret. Then strum.

For the B Major sound position, put your index finger on the first string of the 2nd fret. Position your middle finger on the fourth string of the 4th fret. Position your ring finger on the third string of the 4th fret. Finally, position your pinky finger on the second string of the 4th fret and start with the 4th string and quickly strum each of the strings below.
