In this video, Mahalo wedding expert Kat Keane explains some basic dos and don'ts for speeches and toasts.
At Your Rehearsal Dinner
If you have a lot of family and friends that want to make speeches at your wedding and you just don't have the time to fit them all in, you can always carve out time at your rehearsal dinner for them. That way they feel included but it doesn't waste time at your wedding.
Make Time for Important Guests
For the most important guests at your wedding (parent, best man, maid of honor), designate three to four people to give speeches. Let them know beforehand that you would like them to limit their speeches to under three minutes. That way everyone gets a chance to speak but your guests aren't bored.
Bride and Groom Speeches
Making a speech as the bride and groom helps personalize your wedding and allows you the chance to thank all your guests for coming to help celebrate your special day with you both.
