In this video, Mahalo natural food expert Kristina Jackson shows you how to pick the best fresh mint.
Step 1: Check the Overall Appearance
Mint generally comes in bunches, so check to see that all the leaves in the bunch are a vibrant green color without any yellow or brown spots. Also check for mold that may have grown from excess moisture.
Step 2: Smell the Mint
You should be able to tell by the smell of the leaves if it's fresh or not, so don't be afraid to hold a bunch to your nose to make sure it smells fresh and minty.
Step 3: Storing Mint
Place mint stems in a glass filled with water, then store the glass and mint in the fridge. You can also cover it with a plastic bag to ensure freshness.
