Perform Your Own Breast Exam
This video provides you with an overview on how to perform a self breast exam. The video discusses a tool found online that gives you a step-by-step process of how to perform the exam. Also on the video is the importance of giving yourself a breast exam for the purposes of early prevention. It also encourages men to perform exams on themselves as they are also susceptible to breast cancer. Though it only occurs in a small percentage of men, it is often more deadly because it is not detected until late. -

- Place your right arm behind your head.
- Use the three middle fingers of your left hand to feel for changes in breast tissue.
- Move your fingers up and down, in a vertical motion, feeling for changes and being sure not to miss any area of the breast.
- "Move around the breast in an up and down pattern starting at an imaginary line drawn straight down your side from the underarm and moving across the breast to the middle of the chest bone. Be sure to check the entire breast area going down until you feel only ribs and up to the neck or collar bone."American Cancer Society: How to Perform a Breast Self-Exam.
