It refers to a message the need to be able to take advantage of quick meetings, (i.e. in an elevator) to be able to deliver a clear concise message about the value you , your company, or your product can deliver. You need to grab the listener's attention and make them want o learn more about you.

Step 1: Refine Your Message
Before beginning to network, you need to be clear about your personal brand, so that you can communicate it effectively. Determine what value your service or product provides to customers, and develop a statement that describes it concisely and effectively. Don't say what you do, state how what you do affects your clients. For example, a personal organizer shouldn't say "I help you clean out your closets." They should say "I help people use their space more effectively" or "I improve your productivity." -
Step 2: Build Your Network
Everyone has a network. You begin with friends, family, and people you do business with, and then branch out. There are a number of ways you can add people to your network.- Ask contacts in your existing network for direct introductions.
- Join networking organizations, such as BNI.
- Use social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Host a networking event, such as an open house at your business, asking each invitee to bring others.
Step 3: Think About the Other Person
In order to build credibility and goodwill with people, you need to "give" before "getting." Ask questions about their business, so you can learn what will help them. Then take action to introduce them to someone who will benefit their business. By giving before asking, you'll establish yourself as someone who's willing to help others, and lay a foundation for a solid business relationship.
