Introduction
Three steps are all that separate you from a comfortable bra. This guide will show you these 3 steps to teach you how to measure your bra size. Body shapes and sizes are not only different for every person, but change individually as we progress through life. It's not a sign of old age when your bust size, shape or distribution changes, it's simply a natural, healthy part of life. When should you remeasure your bust size?
- When you loose weight
- When you gain weight
- After your second trimester of pregnancy
- After you give birth
- Approximately 3 months after you are finished breast feeding
- If you are at all uncomfortable
A general bra fitting takes two measurements into account. To measure your bra size, you will need:
- A fabric tape measure
- Mirror or a friend
Step 1: Measure the Bra Band Size
- Align the edge of the tape measure directly below the bust line
- Wrap the tape measure around the body so that it meets the starting point
- Record the number where the tape measure overlaps
- Add 5 inches to the number that you have recorded
Step 2: Measure Around The Largest Part of the Bust
- Identify the largest part of the bust. This is often not the center.
- Similar to Step 1 above, begin by wrapping the tape measure around the bust so that it meets the starting point
- Do not pull the tape measure Tightly. The tape measure should not indent the skin or fabric.
Step 3: Calculate Cup and Bra Size
- Subtract the measurement number that you received in step one from from the measurement received in step 2.
- For each inch in difference, increment the cup size.
Eg: Measurement 1: 27 + 5 = 32 Measurement 2: 34 32 - 34 = 2 2 = a cup size of B
If the resulting number was 3, the cup size would be C. If the resulting number was 4, the cup size would be D.
Step 4: Evaluate and Try on Bras
- A good bra strap fits slightly below the shoulders and should be loose enough around the bra band to run a single finger comfortably along the back
- Similarly, the shoulder straps should be snug, allow for a finger to slide comfortably and not leave any red marks on the skin when worn
- The center core of the bra (the part that connects the two cups) should lie flat against your skin
