Step 1: Choose Your Oils
- Choosing an oil, or oils, will depend on the desired qualities you want in your soap. Each oil contains a different combination of fatty acids that will contribute different properties to your soap. Which one you choose depends on what type of soap you are making.
- While you can use any of the oils listed to make your own recipe, you cannot switch out oils in a recipe already written. Step 2: Calculate the Amount of Lye Needed
