Step 1: Ingredients
- 1 6 oz. package of strawberry jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 15 1/4 ounce can of crushed pineapple
- 1 16 ounce package of frozen, sweetened strawberries, thawed
- 1 pint of sour cream
Step 2: Make Strawberry Salad
- Dissolve jello in boiling water.
- Whip bananas in mixer and add to jello.
- Add pineapple and thawed strawberries.
- Pour 1/2 mixture into pyrex dish and refrigerate 1/2 hour or until firm.
- Spread sour cream over congealed mixture.
- Pour remaining 1/2 mixture over sour cream.
- Let congeal and serve.
Step 3: Strawberry Salad Variations
- Substitute frozen strawberries for fresh strawberries.
- Use other fruits such as fresh oranges or canned peaches.
- Make a completely different type of strawberry salad by using fresh strawberries (sliced), fresh spinach and feta cheese. Add pecans if desired. For the dressing, use any or all of the following: poppy seed dressing, olive oil and red wine vinegar. Add salt and pepper for taste.
