How To Make Smores

A s'mores classic recipe has three basic ingredients, combined to produce a delicious campfire treat. You can also make s'mores in the microwave, if a campfire isn't readily available. Read on to learn how to make s'mores.

Introduction

The perfect s'more can be a wonderful ending to a summer cookout. You can also make indoor someones with the help of your microwave!

Step 1: S'Mores Ingredients

For each s'more, you'll need:

  1. One graham cracker, split in half.
  2. One marshmallow
  3. 4 squares from a chocolate bar

Step 2: How to Make Campfire S'Mores

  1. Prepare the graham crackers before toasting the marshmallow.
  2. Place 2 squares of chocolate on each graham cracker half.
  3. Place the marshmallow on a stick and slow roast it over the fire, turning frequently without allow the marshmallow to touch the flame.
  4. As the marshmallow cooks, it will puff up and soften.
  5. When it is golden brown, take it off the fire, and place the marshmallow (still on the stick), between the two prepared graham crackers.
  6. Withdraw the stick, leaving the marshmallow between the graham crackers.
  7. Allow to sit for a minute, if you can resist, to allow th heat from the marshmallow to soften the chocolate.

Step 3: How to Make S'Mores in the Microwave

Indoor s'mores are easy to make with the help of a microwave.

  1. Assemble the s'more by layering one graham cracker half, chocolate, a marshmallow, and the second graham cracker half.
  2. Place the s'more on a microwave safe plate.
  3. Microwave on high for 45 seconds.
  4. Be careful, as the marshmallow will be even hotter than the marshmallow in a campfire s'more.

Step 4: How to Make S'Mores in the Oven

You can also make indoor s'mores in the oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F
  2. Assemble the s'more by layering one graham cracker half, chocolate, a marshmallow, and the second graham cracker half.
  3. Place the s'more on an oven safe plate or cookie sheet. You can do several at a time
  4. Bake for 10 minutes

Step 5: How to Make S'Mores Under a Broiler

You can use a broiler to make s'mores indoors if you want a browned marshmallow

  1. Preheat he broiler to high
  2. Assemble the s'more by layering one graham cracker half, chocolate, and a marshmallow.
  3. Reserve the top of the s'more.
  4. Place the s'more on a cookie sheet. You can do several at a time
  5. Broil for 3-5 minutes. Watch carefully, as its easy to burn the marshmallow.
  6. remove when the marshmallow is golden brown.
  7. Top with reserved graham cracker, and additional chocolate, if desired.
