    A traditional French salad nicoise is a filling and refreshing lunch or dinner. When making this particular salad, it is helpful to get all of your ingredients ready before you start putting it all together.

  • Step 1: Needed Ingredients

    Please note that this recipe is for the more French version of this salad, versus the Americanized one.

  • Step 2: Make the Dressing

    Combine all of the ingredients for the dressing into a small mixing bowl. Whisk until thoroughly mixed.

  • Step 3: Assemble the Salad

    1. In a large mixing bowl, add the lettuce, 45 grams of the basil leaves, tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, onions and artichokes.
    2. Pour the dressing onto the mixture, then toss.
    3. Divide the mixture among approximately 6 salad plates or bowl, then garnish each plate with equal amounts of the eggs, tuna, olives and remaining 15 grams of basil.
    4. Serve.

    • 100 grams lettuce, washed
    • 60 grams basil leaves, finely sliced
    • 4 cored roma tomatoes, sliced into quarters
    • 1 deseeded red pepper, finely sliced
    • Half of a deseeded small cucumber, finely sliced
    • 6 spring onions, sliced very thin
    • 6 baby artichokes, cooked and then finely sliced
    • 4 hard boiled eggs
    • 200 grams of canned tuna, drained
    • 100 grams of black olives
