This video demonstrates how to make a reindeer ornament using clothespins. Step 1: Make Reindeer Ornaments with Clothespins

What You Will Need

3 old fashioned style clothespins
Wood glue
Scissors
Small bell
Black permanent marker
Thin ribbon (red, green or white)
String (red, green, white or black)
1 white pompon
1 red pompon
1 pair of google eyes (with adhesive backing, if possible)

Make Reindeer Ornament with Clothespins

Use the scissors to cut a 6 inch piece of string.
Tie the ends of the string together to form a loop with a knot at the top.
Using the wood glue, secure the string between the heads of two old fashioned clothespins.
Let dry.
Glue the third clothespin, upside down, to the head of one of the other clothespins. This will be the reindeer's head.
After this has dried, glue the red pompon to the base of the third clothespin, which is the reindeer head. This will be the nose.
Attach googly eyes with the adhesive backing about 1/2 inch above the nose.
String the bell around the thin green, red or white ribbon, and tie it around the reindeer's neck.
Use the black permanent marker to shade the four reindeer hooves

Step 2: Make a Candy Cane Reindeer Ornament

What You Will Need

Candy canes
Brown, gold, red or green pipe cleaners
Small red, white or brown pompons
Hot glue gun
Googly eyes (with adhesive backing, if possible)
Ribbon or yarn for hanging the ornament (optional)

Make Reindeer Ornaments Using Candy Canes

Take the pipe cleaner, which will be used to form the reindeer antlers, and place it in the curve of your wrapped candy cane.
Bring the two ends of the pipe cleaner together, and twist once or twice around the candy cane's curve so that it is held firmly in place.
Stretch each side of the pipe cleaner so that there is an antler on either side of the candy cane.
Make bends in the pipe cleaner, shaping into antlers.
Place the two googly eyes side by side. Either use glue to secure the eyes, or make sure they come with adhesive backing.
Put glue at the end of the candy cane, and put your red, brown or white pompon at the end.
Let dry.
Once dry, hang the candy cane on the tree by its natural, curved hook

Step 3: Reindeer Ornament Variations

For the clothespin reindeer ornaments, use additional embellishments to decorate. Add brown felt to make antlers, or wrap brown pipe cleaners around the prongs of the clothespin head. Cover the body of the reindeer with brown felt, or paint it brown.
For the candy cane reindeer ornaments, use different sized candy canes, or different color candy canes.
Make reindeer ornaments using popsicle sticks. Use three popsicle sticks; start by gluing the first two together in a V shape, and glue the third one across the first two about 1/3 from the top so that the bottom protrudes like antlers. Glue a red pompon where the two popsicle sticks overlap (to form the nose). Attach googly eyes on either side of the two popsicle sticks that form the V, just below the third popsicle stick. Tie a ribbon around the third popsicle stick so you can hang the ornament on the Christmas tree.
