How to Make Peach Pie

What You'll Need

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust, rolled out to fit a 9-inch pie plate
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp butter, chopped
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie plate
  • Mixing spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush
  1. Preheat oven to 425° F (218° C).
  2. Line the pie plate with the bottom crust, allowing the edges to hang over the sides.
  3. Combine the flour and sugar in a bowl.
  4. Add the peaches and lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Place the filling in the bottom crust.
  6. Scatter the butter on top of the peaches.
  7. Place the top crust on the pie and crimp the top and bottom edges together.
  8. Brush the top with of the pie with milk or cream and sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Make several slits in the top of the pie for steam to escape. These can be straight or decorative.
  10. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  11. Reduce heat to 350° F (176° C) and continue to bake an additional 45 minutes, until crust is browned and filling is bubbling. Stick a knife through one of the steam slits to make sure the peaches are soft and tender.
