Step 1: Why Make Liquid Soap
- Although liquid soap is readily available in the store, it's not cheap, and generally contains antibacterial agents that you may not want to use all the time. You can control what's in your soap when you make it yourself, and save money as well. By using leftover bar soap scraps you have on hand, you can make liquid soap for free!
Step 2: What You'll Need for Liquid Soap
- 4 ounces of bar soap
- You can use a new bar of soap, or scraps you already have on hand. If you like, you can use all natural soap.
- A cheese grater
- One gallon of distilled water
- A pot large enough to hold the soap and water with room to spare.
- Hand mixer or whisk
- A funnel
- A soap dispenser or attractive bottle
Step 3: How to Make Liquid Soap
- Heat the water to a simmer.
- While the water is heating, grate the soap finely.
- Add the soap to the simmering water, and turn off the heat
- Let the soap and water mixture sit for 15 minutes.
- Beat it until smooth.
- Let it sit overnight until thoroughly cool.
- Blend it again in the morning, and using a funnel, pour it into the dispenser.
- Save the extra in a large jar to refill the dispenser.
