How to Make Key Lime Pie

What You'll Need

For the crust
  • 1 1/2 cups graham crackers, crushed
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 6 tbsp butter, melted
For the filling
  • 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • Yolks from 4 large eggs
  • 2/3 cups fresh or bottled Key lime juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lime zest
For the topping
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 9-inch pie pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk
  • Electric mixer
  • Rolling pin (for crushing graham crackers)
  • Plastic food storage bag (for crushing graham crackers)

  5. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate. Optional: Freeze your crust up to an hour before baking to prevent crumbling.Food Network: Key Lime Pie
  6. Bake for 10 minutes then cool.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and lime zest until fluffy. If using an electric mixer, mix at high speed for about five minutes.
  3. Slowly add the condensed milk and continue to whisk until thick. If using an electric mixer, mix for three to four minutes.
  4. Slowly add the lime juice, mixing until blended. If using electric mixer, reduce the speed to low.

  7. Cool on a wire rack then refrigerate for at least two hours. For easier slicing, place your pie in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving.

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat cream with an electric mixer until almost stiff.
  2. Add vanilla and sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form when beater is lifted from mixture.
