Step 1: What You Need to Make Salt Dough Holiday Magnets
- Small round magnets
- Cookie cutters (in holiday shapes, if desired)
- Sharp knife
- Toothpicks
- Glue
- Acrylic paints
- Food coloring (optional)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup salt
- A mixing bowl
- A wooden spoon
Step 2: How to Make Salt Dough Holiday Magnets
- Mix together flour, salt and water in mixing bowl
- Add food coloring, if desired
- Stir with wooden spoon until you have a doughy consistency
- Turn onto floured surface
- Knead until smooth and elastic
- Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick
- Cut out desired shapes with a knife or cookie cutters
- Press magnet into back (you may need to glue it on after the dough dries)
- Carve designs with toothpicks, if desired
- Allow to dry for 48 hours, turning after 24 hours
- Paint with acrylic paints

If you don't wish to make dough, there are a variety of other materials you may use for magnets. If you want to make photo magnets, you can get magnet computer paper from a home office store print them up using Photoshop.- You can also cut shapes out of cardboard or a hard felt, and decorate them with markers, paints, glitter, beads, or any other embellishments. Simply glue a round magnet to the back of your design, and it will be ready to hang!
