How to Make Granola
This granola recipe uses a combination of brown sugar and maple syrup as a sweetener, and combines them directly with the vegetable oil. Although the chef describes this as a healthy way to make granola, the recipe below dilutes the sweetener and oil with water, creating a lighter granola.

Introduction
Granola may be enjoyed for breakfast or a snack, or used as a topping for yogurt or salads. Because it is loaded with high-quality carbs and protein, granola is often eaten by hikers and athletes to sustain energy. To make your own granola, just follow the recipe below. -
Step 1: What You Need to Make Granola
- 1 cup water and/or or fruit juice
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup honey and/aor maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups rolled oats 9do not use instant or quick oats)
- 4-6 cups of add-ins (see below)
Step 2: Granola Add-Ins
Should be Toasted with the Oats
- Sesame Seeds
- Wheat Germ
- Soy grits
- Soy flour
- Coconut
- Bran flakes
- Flax seeds
Should be Added After Toasting
- Sunflower seeds
- Chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds
- raisins
- Dried cranberries, cherries, apricots, and/or pineapple
Step 3: How to Make Granola
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Bring the water or juice to a boil, and add oil, the sweetener and vanilla.
- Combine the oats with any add-ins that will be cooked with the oats in a large bowl.
- Pour the water mixture over the oats and toss well.
- Spread the granola in a large roasting pan, and place in the oven.
- Reduce the heat to 275 F.
- Cook for 1 1/2-2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool completely, and add the additional add-ins.
