How to Make Focaccia in Your Bread Machine
This video demonstrates how to make foccacia dough in your bread machine. The recipe is a bit different from the one on this page, but you can use the recipe on this page in your bread maker, as long as you add the ingredients in the order she uses on the video. Since focaccia is a flatbread, it can't be cooked in the bread machine, so it needs to be baked in the oven.

Introduction
Focaccia is very easy to make- just make sure you have enough tie to let it rise. You can bake it without rising- just skip right from mixing the dough to baking- but it will be a denser, heavier bread. This recipe seasons the bread with rosemary and salt, but feel free to add garlic, pepper, or any other crushed herbs to flavor it as you like. -

Step 1: Focaccia Ingredients
Step 2: How to Make Focaccia
- Pour the water into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle the sugar and yeast on top.
- Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
- Add 1 cup of flour, the olive oil and the salt, and blend until well mixed.
- Add the remaining flour one cup at a time, stirring until it is all incorporated in the dough.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead until it is stiff and springy, which should take about 10 minutes.
- Allow the dough to rest for 15 minutes.
- Wash and dry the mixing bowl before coating the inside with olive oil.
- Knead the dough a few more times, until it is smooth, and place it in to the bowl to rise.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise until it is doubled in size, which will take1-2 hours depending on how active your yeast is and how warm the room is.
- Turn the dough onto the counter and punch it down, to deflate it.
- Knead a few more times until smooth.
- Spread the dough out into a rectangle on a greased cookie sheet.
- Set the sheet aside, so that the dough can rise again for about 45 minutes.
Step 3: How to Bake Focaccia
- Preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Make indentations on the surface of the focaccia with your fingers.
- Spread the oil over the top of the focaccia with your hands.
- Sprinkle the rosemary and salt over the oil.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until brown.
