Fish tacos are a delicious alternative to the traditional Mexican variety. They can be as spicy or mild as you please, and are real crowd pleasers. To learn how to make fish tacos, just read the recipe in this guide.
These Baja style fish tacos are light, crunchy, and flavorful. This is a super-fast recipe using frozen fish sticks. If you prefer to start with fresh fish, any white, firm-fleshed variety will do. Just grill, bake or fry with desired seasonings (see this page for cooking tips). You can also vary toppings, adding sour cream or even ranch dressing if you please!
Fish Taco Recipe
This video will show you an easy recipe for fish tacos that can be made at home. The fish here is marinated and then grilled. While traditional Baja fish tacos may be fried, this grilled recipe is less fattening and has a fresh and pleasant flavor.
Step 1: Gather Ingredients
This makes 8 tacos:
- 8 Medium-sized frozen fish sticks
- 16 White corn tortillas
- 2 Fresh jalapenos, chopped, seeded if you don't want too much heat
- 1 Cup salsa
- 2 Ripe avocados, diced
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 Medium lime
- 1 Cup chopped cabbage
Step 2: Make the Tacos
- Cook fish sticks according to package directions
- Heat tortillas (60 seconds in the microwave will do)
- Take two tortillas and lay one on top of the other
- Place a fish stick on top
- Squeeze on a few drops of lime juice
- Top with jalapeno, tomato, cabbage and avocado
- Spoon salsa on top
- Repeat until tortillas are gone
Step 3: Serve
Fish tacos should be served immediately. Garnish with a line wedge or cilantro if desired. If you wish to serve a side dish with your tacos, consider a Mexican-style bean salad, refried beans and rice, or even potato chips or French fries. Enjoy!
