In this video, Mahalo cooking expert Miranda Valentine shows you how to make eggnog.
What You'll Need
Ingredients- 6 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1-3 tbsp light rum
- 1-3 tbsp bourbon
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tbsp sugar
- Nutmeg
Equipment
- Large pot
- 2 spoons (1 wooden, 1 metal)
- 2 mixing bowls
- Hand mixer
- Spatula
- Glass
Step 1: Cook Ingredients
In a large pot over medium heat, combine egg yolks, milk and the third of a cup of sugar. Stir until the mixture is thick enough to coat a metal spoon. Remove from heat.Step 2: Ice and Refrigerate
Place the pot either in a larger pot or the skink filled with ice water for two minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the bourbon, rum and vanilla and stir. Place in mixing bowl, cover and refrigerate for four to 24 hours.
Step 3: Make and Add Whipped Cream
In another mixing bowl, combine whipping cream and two tablespoons of sugar. Beat with a hand mixer. Take the eggnog out of fridge and add the whipped cream. Stir but be careful not to overmix. Ladle into a glass and sprinkle with nutmeg.Enjoy Your Eggnog
