What You'll Need
Ingredients for filling
- 1 pie crust, rolled out to fit a 9-inch pie plate
- 12 cups apples, sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp flour
- 3/4 cup sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Ingredients for topping
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 stick butter, melted

- Pie tin
- Wooden spoon
Step 1: Make Topping
- Combine sugar, flour and butter in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
- If needed, work with your fingers until the sugar and flour form little crumbles.
Step 2: Make the Filling
- Preheat oven to 425° F (218° C).
- Place the bottom crust in the pie plate. Press with your fingers so that it lies flat agains the bottom of the pan.
- Mix the flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Drizzle the lemon juice on the apples then toss with the sugar mixture.
- Place the apples in the bottom crust, mounding the apples in the center.
- Scatter the topping on the apples.
- Place the pie in the oven, and bake for 50-60 minutes, until the apples are tender and the filling is bubbly.
