If you are hosting any sort of event, you are probably trying to determine the best appetizers to serve. A platter of crudité is an easy and guest-pleasing option. This guide will walk you through how to make crudité.
Introduction
Crudité can have so many variations, depending on the taste of you and your guests. As crudité consists mostly of vegetables, it is also one of the healthiest dishes you can serve.
Step 1: Select Your Vegetables
A crudité platter can have a wide variety of vegetables. Select approximately 5-6 of your favorites from the following suggestions:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Make sure to get the smallest ones you can find.
- Celery
- Cut into short sticks and keep crisp by placing them into a bowl of water until you need them.
- Broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, snow peas or asparagus
- Blanch or parboil by boiling for a few moments then immediately dunking into cold water. This keeps the vegetables crisp and colorful.
- Baby zucchini, small squash, cucumber, jicama or carrots
- Slice into manageable sticks.
Step 2: Prepare Your Vegetables
Once you have chosen the vegetables you want to serve, prepare them as needed, whether it be slicing, blanching, chopping, etc.
Step 3: Arrange Your Vegetables
After your vegetables are ready, decide how you want to present the crudité.
- Arrange the different vegetables on a large platter around a dip such as hummus or yogurt.
- Put the vegetables in a variety of different color bowls and set them in an artful pattern.
