How to Make Croutons
This video illustrates how to make croutons by baking. The chef in the video uses garlic powder, instead of fresh garlic, and adds onion powder and parsley to her melted butter. The biggest difference is that she does not slice the bread into cubes until after it is baked. That way produces crumbly, irregular croutons. For neater croutons, that are browned all all sides, cube the bread before baking, as described below.

Step 1: What You Need to Make Croutons
- Bread, with crusts removed
- 2 teaspoons of butter or olive oil per slice of bread
- 1 clove of garlic, pressed
- Salt and pepper, as desired
Step 2: Saute the Croutons
- Cut the bread into 1/2 inch cubes
- Melt the butter, or heat the olive oil, in a skillet.
- Add the garlic, salt, and pepper
- Toss the bread cubes in the butter or oil, and fry over medium heat until golden.
