Step 1: Equipment You Will Need
- Wax paper
- Large microwave-safe bowl
- Cookie sheet
- Fork or tongs
- Refrigerator
Step 2: Ingredients
- 2 dozen pretzel rods or twists
- 1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- Assorted sprinkles or chopped nuts.
Step 3: Preparations
- Cover cookie sheet with wax paper.
- Make room in refrigerator for cookie sheet.
Step 4: Directions
- Combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and shortening into the large microwave-safe bowl.
- After mixing the two ingredients together, microwave both until the chocolate has melted completely. Stir after each minute.
- Cover the pretzels in chocolate using the following techniques:
Pretzel Rods - hold the rod at one end and dip the other end in the bowl of melted chocolate, leaving at least 1-2 inches uncovered. Pretzel Twists - submerge the whole pretzel in the melted chocolate. Using tongs or a fork, pull the pretzel out and shake off excess chocolate.
- Place chocolate covered pretzels on prepared cookie sheet.
