Introduction
- To make a traditional dry burrito, you select a filling, place it on the tortilla, roll the burrito up, and bake it. After baking it, you place it on a plate, add condiments and serve. Some people add sauce before baking, similar to the preparation of an enchilada. If sauce is added, it's referred to as a wet burrito.
Step 1: Select Your Burrito Filling
- Burritos can be filled with taco meat, beans, rice, vegetables, scrambled eggs, or whatever you have on hand. Be creative, mixing and matching complementary filling ingredients.

Step 2: Roll up the Burritos
- Warm the tortillas briefly, according to the package directions. This will make them easier to roll without breaking.
- Place the tortilla on a flat surface.
- Place filling on the bottom third of the tortilla, leaving a flap at the bottom.
- Fold the bottom edge up over the filling.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla in about an inch.
- Beginning at the bottom, roll the tortilla up
- Place the tortilla on an oven safe plate or platter, seam side down.
Step 3: Bake the Burritos
- The burritos can be baked as is, or topped with grated cheese You can also add a sauce, such as suisa or molé, if desired. As the filling is already cooked, baking serves only to meld the ingredients, melt the cheese, and warm the burritos. 20-30 minutes at 375 degrees is usually sufficient, unless you are making very thick burritos, or had refrigerated the filling ahead of time.
