Introduction
- Bath salts can make a regular, everyday bath a luxurious, fragrant experience. Why buy expensive bath salts when you can make your own at home for a lot less money? Bath salts make fantastic gifts for the bath lover.
Step 1: What You'll Need
- To make personalized bath salts, you'll need a few basic items to get you started:
- Two cups of epsom salt
- One cup of sea, rock or coarse salt
- Mixing bowl
- Food coloring
- 1/4 cup of glycerin
- Essential oil
- Jars for packaging
- This project, which creates approximately three cups of bath salts, will work best on days with low humidity, as the salts will absorb moisture.
Step 2: Making the Bath Salts
- Now that you've gathered all your items, it is time to create your bath salts!
- Mix your epsom salt and other choice of salt together in a bowl
- Add your food coloring; just a few drops should suffice
- Mix again
- Add essential oil and glycerin
- Be careful not to add to much oil or your mixture will clump
- Make sure your mixture has thoroughly dried before you begin packaging
Step 3: Packaging
- Once you have created your bath salts and waited for them to dry, you should package them in clean, air tight dry jars. Glass jars that have tight seals are a good choice. Carefully pour the salts into the jars. If you are making bath salts using different fragrances, be sure to label the jars.
