Mahalo cooking expert Kristina Jackson demonstrates how to prepare apple raspberry juice.
What You'll Need
- 2 medium-sized apples
- 1/2 cup of raspberries (or substitute jam)
- Sugar to taste (optional)
- Colander
- Paper towels
- Cutting board
- Sharpened knife
- Juicer
- Pitcher
- Stirring spoon
- Drinking glass
- Mason jar or other air-tight container
Instructions
- Rinse your apples and raspberries under cold water. For apples, you can use your hands to strain them, and for raspberries, you should use a colander. Dry both fruits with paper towels.
- With the skin on, place your apples onto the cutting board and use your knife to slice them into quarters (four equally sized pieces per apple).
- Place your pitcher under the juicer's spout so it will collect the juice.
- Insert the apples into your juicer, one piece at a time. Leaving the skin on will produce a cloudy color, which is perfectly normal.
- Insert the raspberries into your juicer. They will not produce a lot of juice, but their high concentration of nutrients will make up for it.
- Use your stirring spoon to stir the juices together in the pitcher.
- Pour the juice from the pitcher into a drinking glass and serve.
- Juice can be stored in a mason jar or other air-tight container for up to 48 hours in your refrigerator.
Filter Your Juice (Optional)
