How to Make Apple Pie

Apple pie may be sweet and delicious, but it is also full of nutrients and healthy goodness. This recipe is excellent for special get-togethers, yet it is simple enough to make any time you want to create a quick homemade dessert for your family or friends.

Step 1: The Crust

If you are looking for convenience, a store-bought pie crust will work just fine. If you prefer to make your pie completely from scratch, however, a pre-made crust won't do. Step 2: Filling Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 6 Medium apples, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons butter, chopped into small pieces
  • 3 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Salt to taste

Step 3: Prepare Filling and Bake

Heat oven to 400 degrees. In large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients except butter until apples are well coated. Pour into pie crust, and top evenly with butter. Cover with top layer of pie crust, and poke with fork to vent. Cover edges with foil to prevent burning. Bake for around 35 minutes, until apples are fork-tender and crust is golden brown. Remove foil for last 15 minutes of baking.
