How to Make a Water Feature
Learn how to make an easy water feature in this step-by-step video guide by the No Mas Hacienda & Cantina in Atlanta. See how a simple clay pot is easily transformed into an outdoor water feature that you can place anywhere you have an electrical outlet. With a pot, a water pump, some PVC pipe and your time, you can create a soothing outdoor water feature that will increase tranquility and add beauty to your outdoor living space.
Step 1: Select a Pot
Select any clay pot that will enhance your outdoor décor. Medium to large size pots work best, but you can select any size that works for your space. After you select your pot:
- Clean it inside and out, then let it dry completely
- Patch any hole on the bottom of the pot with silicon
Step 3: Insert and Cut PVC Pipe
Insert a PVC pipe into the top of your water pump. Cut the pipe with the PVC cutters about 2 inches below the top of your clay pot. You can adjust how far you want the pipe to stick up, but the goal is to make the pipe bring up water to the surface without an observer being able to see the pipe sticking out.Step 4: Fill In Your Pot
Fill in your clay pot with rocks or other decorative features that will not stop up your water pump. Consider using fake vines, flowers or ornamentation to cover the power cord. After you have your decorative effects in place, fill up your clay pot with water with about 1 inch of the pipe sticking out.Plug in your outdoor water feature to an electrical outlet and turn on your pump. Sit back and relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of your new outdoor water feature.
