How to Make an Arnold Palmer

Are you throwing a party and need a great non-alcoholic beverage option for your guests? Do you need a refreshing drink to help you cool off from a hot summer day? If so, then you need to learn how to make an Arnold Palmer. This icy delight gets its name from golf legend Arnold Palmer, for whom it was a standard refreshment while he was on the course. Though you can now buy Arnold Palmers pre-mixed (one even manufactured by the man himself) it is easy and fun to make your own.

Step 1: Key Ingredients for an Arnold Palmer

There are several things you will need in order to make a great Arnold Palmer.

  1. A tall glass, preferably chilled
  2. Ice
  3. Lemonade - homemade is always best, but store bought or mix will also work
  4. Iced Tea - either sweetened or unsweetened, your preference
  5. Lemon wedge for garnish

Step 2: Make Your Arnold Palmer

Once you have all of the necessary ingredients, you can create your Arnold Palmer.

  1. Fill your frosted glass with ice.
  2. Fill the bottom half the glass with lemonade.
  3. Fill the top half of the glass with iced tea.
    • If you are making the drink for a guest or want to get that special half and half look just for yourself, try putting a spoon into the glass (with the lemonade) and then slowly pouring the tea over the spoon.
  4. Add the lemon wedge, and if desired, a straw.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
    • If you prefer to serve with the half and half look, allow your guests to mix the drink with their straw themselves. Otherwise, you can mix yourself prior to serving.

Step 3: Arnold Palmer Variations

There are ways you can jazz up your Arnold Palmer.

  1. Add a splash of grenadine.
  2. Vary the flavor of lemonade you use.
  3. Make your mocktail into a cocktail.
    1. Add vodka to create the Tom Arnold
    2. Add 1 ounce citrus vodka and a quarter ounce of triple sec to create the John Daly
    3. Make your drink with 2/3 traditional Arnold Palmer and 1/3 rum for a Dirty Palmer
    4. Use Mike's Hard Lemonade and Mike's Twisted Tea to create your own Hard Arnold.http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/2008/06/arnold-palmer-drink.html
