How to Make Agua de Valencia
Agua de Valencia is a refreshing cocktail that has its origins in Spain, particularly the Valencia region. The name means "water of Valencia". Recipes may vary but the core ingredients are orange juice (fresh is best), champagne, and Cointreau liqueur. Depending on the ratio used, this drink can be rather powerful so be careful. Some bars are know to use vodka or gin instead of Cointreau.
Tips
Be careful the drink is strong and doesn't taste like it.
Introduction
How to Make: Ingredients needed include orange juice, champagne, and Cointreau liqueur (an orange liquor).
Estimated time to make: 5 minutes or less.
Difficulty: Easy (this is sometimes called a punch if that gives you an idea how easy it is). Some recipes call for ice some do not. Either way it is best served cold. It is often served in a broad cocktail glass such as a Martini glass or Margarita glass.
Step 1: Pitcher + Orange Juice
Put in pitcher 3/4 liter of orange juice. Fresh orange juice is the best. Some recipes vary and have a 50/50 ratio of champagne to orange juice; if this is desired then simply put a 1/2 liter of OJ in the pitcher.
Step 2: Add Champagne
Add chilled champagne, approximately 1/4 Liter. (If making a stronger 50/50 ratio add roughly 1/2 liter).
Step 3: Add Liquor and Sugar
Add Cointreau liquor (orange flavor) approximately 3-4 ounces. Some recipes call for gin and/or vodka to be used in place of cointreau. Add sugar to taste; best to start with a teaspoon. Stir after adding sugar. This will prepare approximately 1 Liter.
