Wine spritzers are light, refreshing, and invigorating on hot summer days. They have a relatively low alcohol content, so you can enjoy more drinks than you would be able to with regular wine. Just read this page for instructions on how to make a wine spritzer.
Introduction
Want to cool down on a hot day? A wine spritzer may provide just the relief you are looking for. They are light, citrusy, and incredibly simple to make. They are also great for entertaining--try serving wine spritzers at your next barbecue or lunch get-together.
Step 1: Chill Your Ingredients
Keep these items in the fridge so that they will be cool when you make your spritzers. This recipe make four servings:
- 1 Bottle white wine, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
- 8 oz Soda water
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1/2 Lime

Step 2: Pour
Fill glasses or tumblers with ice. Pour 4-6 ounces of wine, followed by 2 ounces of soda water. Squeeze lemon and lime juice into each glass. Stir gently, and serve with straws. Garnish with slices of lemons and limes. If you are having guests over, you may wish to prepare the spritzer in a large, clear pitcher and decorate by floating lemon and lime wheels inside and on the top. This looks elegant, and will invite your guests to pour themselves a tall, cold glassful.
Step 3: Variations
- Use soda water with a hint of raspberry or citrus for extra flavor
- Use lemon-lime soda for a sweeter spritzer
- For fancy spritzers, place some fresh raspberries or peach slices in the glass
