Introduction
Light and refreshing with a kick, the White Lady cocktail is also called a Delilah, a Chelsea Side-car and a Lillian Forever. The drink's origins are unclear, with some authorities claiming it was created by Harry MacElhone in 1929 at Harry's New York Bar in Paris. Others credit the drink to Harry Craddock who published the recipe in his Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930.
Step 1: Ingredients and Materials Needed for a White Lady Cocktail
- A cocktail glass
- 1 1/2 ounces of gin
- 3/4 ounce Cointreau
- 3/4 ounce lemon juice
- Ice cubes
- Cocktail shaker
Step 2: Preparing the White Lady Cocktail
- Pour the gin, Cointreau and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker and add several ice cubes.
- Shake well.
- Pour the liquid through a strainer into a cocktail glass to serve.
Step 3: Garnish the White Lady Cocktail
For a small drink, garnishes are not necessary, but can add a stylish flair to the beverage. Slice a very thin slice of lemon and put it on the rim or float it in the glass. You could also use a peeler to create a twist of lemon peel to decorate the glass's edge.
