Introduction
Dressing up as Super Mario does not have to be expensive. Gathering a few household products, used clothing and accessories can help you skip a visit to the local party supplies store for the same video game look. Learning how to make a Super Mario costume can be easy but requires an estimated 2-3 hours for completion. -
Step 1: Materials Needed for the Super Mario Look
Gather the following items to make a Super Mario costume:Red long sleeve shirt Brown belt Dark brown work boots Blue jean jumpsuit or overalls White gloves Red socks Black eyeliner pencil Black lip liner pencil Red marker Old and used white t-shirt, towel or washcloth Red baseball cap or newsboy hat Elmer's school glue Scissors
-
Step 2: Building the Super Mario Appearance
- Using scissors, cut out a large white circle from the old and used white t-shirt. Trace the top or bottom of a jelly container if you want the circle to be even.
- Using the red marker, draw an upper case "M" on the front of your white t-shirt circle.
- Put a moderate amount of Elmer's school glue on the opposite side of your "M" circle and attach this piece of material to the front center of the red baseball cap. Sit the hat right-side up on a flat surface and allow your circle to dry while continuing with the rest of this costume.
- Put on your red long sleeve shirt, socks and blue jean jumpsuit.
- Thicken your eyebrows using the black eyeliner by drawing lines on the opposite sides of your eyebrows and coloring them in. This will give the appearance of thicker eyebrows than you really have. Men, women and children who already have naturally thick eyebrows can skip this step.
- Draw a wide mustache above your top lip using the black lip liner. Start from the bottom of your nose and draw the outline of this mustache to extend 1-2 inches past your lips on each side of your face.
- Check to see if your white "M" circle is dry on the hat.
Step 3: Finishing the Super Mario Costume
- Put on the brown belt over your jumpsuit. Tighten the belt if your jumpsuit does not have any belt loops.
- Put on your brown boots. Roll the jumpsuit pant legs up by two inches if they are too long. This will make sure your boots are noticeable.
- Put on your white gloves and tuck the bottom of each sleeve on your shirt into these gloves.
- Put on your newsboy hat, making sure the "M" is facing the front.
Once you have finished this step by adding your baseball cap or newsboy hat, the Super Mario costume will be complete.
