The first of a series of videos by expert village to show how to build a snowman.
Introduction
Step 1: Preparation
Make sure you are wearing warm clothes (including gloves) so that the cold snow and winter weather won't interfere with the fun of making your snowman.
Step 2: Find the Right Kind of Snow
Find the right snow consistency. You will need snow that is not too wet and just at the point of freezing. Test it by squeezing some snow in your hand. If the snow clumps together it's the right consistency. Also make sure you have enough snow available to you.
Step 3: Making the Base
Your snowman will need a solid base. Make a snowball and keep packing it with snow until it's too big to hold. Make sure you pack it tightly. Put the ball on the snow and roll it around. The snowball will get bigger and bigger. Stop when it reaches about 2-3 feet in size.
Step 4: Making the Body
Your snowman will need a body. Make another snowball like the previous one. This one should be smaller. Make it 2/3 of the size of the first one. Don't make the ball too big because you will have to lift it onto the base.
Step 5: Making the Head
Your snowman will need a head. The last snowball you have to make is the smallest one. Put it on top of the body. So now you have 3 snowballs stacked on top of each other with the largest at the bottom and the smallest on top.
Step 6: Support and Touch Up
Pack extra snow in between the layers to act as glue and hold everything together. Also, clean any discolored snow that might be distracting. Replace it with white snow. Your snowman will be grateful!
Step 7: Making the Face
Give the snowman a face. Use coals for the eyes and mouth and a carrot for the nose. Stick the twigs in the sides of the body to act as arms.
Step 8: Accessories
You don't want your snowman to catch a cold. Dress him in a comfy scarf, hat and gloves. Keep in mind, bright colors work best against a snowy background.
Step 9: Take Pictures!
Make sure you take pictures of your creation. When summer comes he might not be around anymore. However come winter, you can create him once again.
