Introduction
The painkiller cocktail originated in the British Virgin Islands at the Soggy Dollar Bar. Preparing the alcoholic beverage is fairly simple. When prepared the color should be yellow, with a brown bruise and a rusted top. The New York Times described that the taste of a painkiller cocktail should be the "taste of summer" and with the "feel of night air on sunburned skin." -
Ingredients
Single Cocktail
- Shaker
- 2 oz. dark rum
- 1 oz. orange juice
- 4 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 oz. coconut cream
- Nutmeg
- Cocktail glass
- Shaved ice
Large Cocktail Batch
- 5 bottles dark rum
- 8 cans of pineapple juice (42oz)
- 3 quarts of frozen orange juice
- 2 cans coconut cream
- Nutmeg
- Large punch bowl (6 gallon)
- Ice filled glasses
- Shaved ice
Step 3: Serve and Enjoy
Add shaved ice to the cocktail glass that you will be serving the painkiller cocktail in. Pour the shaker mix into the cocktail glass. Dust the top of the frothy cocktail with a generous amount of nutmeg.When serving the large batch of painkiller cocktail, use a ladle to serve the drink into glasses that have been pre-filled with shaved ice. Add a generous dusting of nutmeg to the top of each glass.
