Introduction
A Long Beach iced tea is very similar to a Long Island iced tea, only cranberry juice is substituted for the sweet and sour mix and cola. It is named after Long Beach Island, New Jersey, which is known for its cranberry bogs. Because of the juice, Long Beach iced teas have a bright red color. -
Step 1: What You Need
There are lots of different types of alcohols in this drink, which can get fairly expensive quickly. The good news is that you cannot really taste the liquor in a Long Beach iced tea, and therefore it is perfectly acceptable to use lower-quality (and less expensive) booze. In fact, it is a waste of good liquor to break out the top-shelf stuff for one of these drinks. Here is what you need:- Vodka
- Light rum
- Gin
- Triple sec
- Cranberry juice
- Lemon wedges
- Tall glasses
- Ice
Variations
- For a Long Island iced tea, use sweet and sour mixer instead of cranberry, and add a splash of coke for color
- For a Tokyo tea, substitute melon liquor for the cranberry juice
- For an adios M.F., use equal parts sweet and sour, blue curacao and lemon-lime soda instead of cranberry juice
