Introduction
If you love entertaining on Halloween, why not turn your abode into a haunted house to creep out all of your friends? Props and materials can get expensive if you aren't careful, but it is possible to put on a great haunt and spend very little money. This guide will show you how to do it without breaking the bank. -
Step 1: Create the Atmosphere
First of all, the atmosphere of your house needs to be spooky. Fortunately, this does not take much money to accomplish. Download some creepy Halloween music and sound effects, or purchase a CD. Play these at a volume high enough to be clearly heard, yet not so loud that people will not be able to hear each others' screams.Change the light bulbs to different colors--red will create a spooky effect. Cover all windows with red or black fabric, and drape fabric over doorways so that people can not see what is on the other side (just make sure that there is still ventilation). Also use the fabric to cover any decidedly un-scary items around your home, such as white refrigerators. Light candles around the house, but be sure to keep them away from any flammable materials. hhttp://familycrafts.about.com/cs/mischalloween/a/091100b.htm
Step 2: Get Props
Once you have the right ambience, you will need some props. Here are some inexpensive ideas:
- Cotton spider webs
- Cardboard or foam tombstones
- Strobe lights
- Rubber spiders and other insects or rodents
- A cauldron full of dry ice
- Styrofoam heads from beauty supply stores
- Fake blood made from corn syrup and red food coloring
- Fake bats hanging from the ceiling
Step 3: Recruit Your Friends
To make your haunted house really spooky, enlist your friends and family members to dress up as ghosts, ghouls and monsters and scare your guests. Have them hide in strategic places throughout the house, and jump out to scare people when they least expect it. They can even hold long objects with soft ends, such as feather dusters, and touch people's hands or limbs with them when they aren't looking. Water guns can also be used for squirting unsuspecting people. This will spook even the most jaded individuals! http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-make-your-own-haunted-houseResources Powered by Google
