Make a Gingerbread Man Costume for Kids
This video demonstrates how to make holiday costumes for children, one of which is a gingerbread man costume. You will need brown felt and a hot glue gun. Have your child lie down and trace their body around the fabric. Use this pattern to cut 2 identical pieces of felt matching their frame. Glue the edges together with the hot glue gun, leaving enough room for them to get inside. For the head, cut out a piece from the center of the front side for their face. Add embellishments as desired.
Step 1: What You Will Need
- Brown faux velvet sweat shirt (or any material)
- Brown faux felt sweat pants (or any material)
- White mittens
- Brown furry house shoes
- 3 large pompons, any color
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Light brown fabric
- 1 black permanent marker
- White ribbon or trim to trace around the legs
Step 2: Make Your Gingerbread Man Costume
- Use the hot glue gun to secure the three pompons down the front center of the sweat shirt
- Cut pieces of the white ribbon or trim and glue them around the neck of the shirt, the wrists of the sweat shirt and ankles of the sweat pants.
- Let it all dry.
- For the head, use the tan fabric. Have someone use the black marker to trace the size and shape of your head.
- Cut two identical head pieces from the tracing, cutting a little extra size wise so you will have extra room.
- Use the hot glue gun to seal the two pieces together.
- Cut a hole in the center of one side so your face is exposed.
