How to Make a French Horn

The French horn is a shooter that has a vibrant red-violet color. Los Angeles bartender JaNee Nisonger demonstrates how to make a French horn with Chambord Liqueur Royale De France. This alcoholic beverage is prepared in a shaker tin and served without ice.

According to Nisonger, the drink is related to the purple hooter, which combines Chambord, vodka and 7-Up soda.http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink1139.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfrSa56BFYA However, a French horn substitutes lemon juice for the 7-Up. This gives it a more intense citrus flavor.

The featured component in this beverage is the Chambord Liqueur Royale De France. It is a fragrant liqueur flavored with framboise (fruit beer), herbs, honey and black raspberries.https://www.wineanthology.com/p-2684-chambord.aspxhttp://www.webtender.com/db/ingred/54 The raspberry flavor dominates the taste. The base alcohol in a French horn is vodka, which is colorless and essentially tasteless.http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc28.html?q=vodka

Step 1: Ingredients

This recipe uses Chambord Liqueur Royale De France, Smirnoff vodka, lemon juice and a cup of ice. Also, a three piece shaker tin and shot glass are needed. If you are unable to obtain Chambord liqueur, you can substitute a generic raspberry liqueur. However, Nisonger does state that the drink works better with Chambord.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfrSa56BFYA

Step 2: Mix the Drink

You should fill the shaker tin with the cup of ice. Pour one and a half ounces of vodka, a half ounce of Chambord and two splashes of lemon juice on top of the ice. Two splashes of lemon are approximately a half ounce.

Step 3: Shake and Garnish

After the ingredients have been poured, place the lid on the shaker tin. Shake it around fifteen times to chill the ingredients. You should touch the side of the container to confirm that it is cold.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfrSa56BFYA Once the drink is chilled, you remove the small top from the lid. Now, the pour the drink into the shot glass. You can garnish the French Horn with lemon slices.
