Want to dress up as sexy, sultry Cat Woman this Halloween? This Batman villain may very well have been the first dominatrix to hit the prime time airwaves. Read on to learn how to make a Catwoman costume.
Cat Woman may be fun and sexy, but she is a strong female who always gives Batman a run for his money. Making a Cat Woman costume can be easy to moderately difficult, depending on how precise you want to be. If you don't have the appropriate clothing items at home, you will probably be able to find them at a good thrift store.
Video Demonstration of a Homemade Cat Woman Costume
This quick video tutorial will show you how to make a fast, easy Cat Woman costume using simple items such as chalk, scissors, needle and thread. Watch to see how to fashion the mask/hood, sleeves, shirt and pants using just an old black pant leg, a tank top and shiny black pants.
Step 1: What You Need to Make the Costume
- Black thigh-high boots
- Tight black tank top or corset
- Shiny black leather or vinyl pants (a bodysuit can replace the top and pants)
- Black cloth material for a mask (or a store-bought mask)
- Chalk, needle and thread if you are making your own mask
- A whip
- Long black gloves
Step 2: Make the Mask
Mask assembly is the most complicated part of the costume-building process. You will need to trace a pattern on cloth with chalk, and then sew the mask together. The mask should cover the top of the head and go down to just above the nostrils, with eyeholes cut out and two cat ears poking up from the top. You can find a pattern online, or watch the video above for detailed instructions.
- If your sewing skills are lacking, you can purchase a mask or some simple cat ears from a costume shop. At Halloween time, they are usually very easy to find.
Step 3: Assemble the Costume
Once the mask has been designed and constructed, the rest of the ensemble is pretty simple. Wear your black top with pants, or a black bodysuit if you have one, and wear your boots over the legs of the pants. Put on the gloves last. For added effect, you may want to tear or cut some strategic rip-holes throughout the costume, to make your Cat Woman appear as though she has been in battle with Batman. Carry a whip at your side if desired. http://www.ehow.com/how_2057772_make-cat-woman-costume.html
