A Breve Latte is a luxuriously creamy coffee drink which requires few ingredients and is easy enough to concoct that you'll want to learn how to make a Breve Latte on your own. All you need to create a Breve Latte just like the ones you can have at coffee shops is Italian roast coffee beans ground for espresso, half-and-half and water. If you enjoy the flavor of a regular latte, then splurge and try its velvety cousin, the "brief" latte or Breve Latte.http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/breve
Breve Latte Preparation
In this video, experienced barista Ryan Morris of Flying Saucers Caffeine and Art shares his breve latte making knowledge to the Mahalo community. He uses modern tools that can be found in modern coffee shops.
Step 1: Pull A Shot or Two of Espresso
The Breve Latte is an espresso on the bottom drink. So start by preparing the amount of espresso you would like in your Breve Latte. If you're using an espresso machine, you may have the option of making one or two shots. If you are making espresso on the stovetop, then the size of your maker will determine how much espresso your drink will contain. Grind your dark roast coffee beans as fine as possible and combine with clean and pure water in the first step to a perfect Breve Latte.http://www.espressoguy.com/grinding/coffee_101_grinding/ref
Step 2: Steam Half-and-Half Milk
The type of milk which is added now is what gives this drink, the Breve Latte, its name. The Italian beverage consists of heavy whipping cream combined with whole milk, or simply half-and-half instead, added to a desired amount of espresso. Since your milk is dense and heavy, it won't foam and froth like half-and-half milk does when steamed.http://www.streetdirectory.com/food_editorials/beverages/beverages/the_ability_of_milk_to_foam_or_froth.html Use ice-cold half-and-half, it foams better than room temperature half-and-half. The target temperature is 160 fahrenheit. Do not go higher, it would scald the creamy milk.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OWofPLMkLs
Step 3: Add Extra Flavors
If your espresso and heavy milk need a little something extra, consider adding a sweetener like cane sugar, sugar in the raw, stevia or agave nectar. Or flavors such as caramel, chocolate syrup, vanilla extract or Irish Cream. Whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon or nutmeg will give the Breve Latte taste a touch of spice.http://www.supramatic.com/coffee_recipe.htm

How to Make Good Coffee
Learn how to make good coffee with Ryan Morris of Flying Saucers Caffeine and Art. The barista recommends grinding your own beans rather than already ground coffee. Fresh ground beans make a better cup of coffee his opinion. Morris demonstrates making a single cup of coffee so it fresh each time. The ground coffee is made with boiling water. If the coffee moves through the filter fast the grounds are to course, or if it moves very slow, it is to ground to finely.
