Do you long to appear beautiful and confident, like a fashion or print model? Models are not necessarily the most gorgeous men and women, but they do know how to dress well and carry themselves with confidence. Read on to learn how to look like a model.
Models come in many shapes, sizes and ages. While most fashion models are young, tall and skinny, commercial and print models may be petite, plus-sized and anywhere from children to teens to senior citizens. However, all have a look that attracts other people, and makes them interesting to watch. If you want to make people stare when you enter a room, follow the steps in this guide.
How to Do Makeup and Hair Like a Model
Makeup is not a requirement for models, but applying the right products the right way can help make your look pop. This video will demonstrate how to do makeup and hair that is similar to the stye seen on some models.
Step 1: Maintain Healthy Skin, Hair and Nails
Models must keep themselves in tip top condition in order to make the cameras love them. This means a clear complexion, healthy hair, and well-kept nails (usually short and unpolished).
- If you have any skin conditions, such as acne, see a dermatologist to get things cleared up. Be sure to moisturize, even if you have oily skin. Use quality shampoos and conditioners on your hair, and practice styling in flattering, polished ways. Skip the acrylic nails and dark nail polishes, as models need to show up to shoots with natural-looking nails. Just clip, file and buff them regularly.
Step 2: Dress to Flatter
Models know how to dress to accentuate their best assets. This doesn't necessarily mean to dress provocatively, just that your clothes should fit in a way that flatters your figure and shows your personal style.
- Look through ads, magazines and catalogs and take note of models whose style is similar to your own. What are they wearing, and why does it make them look so good? Next time you head out shopping, keep an eye out for those sorts of fashions.
Step 3: Carry Yourself with Confidence
Rarely do you look at a model and think to yourself, "wow, she must not like herself very much." This is because they know that the best way to be attractive to others is to believe in your ow beauty. Walk around like you are worthy of attention (without being cocky or obnoxious), and you will draw people to you.
- If you are insecure about your looks, "fake it 'til you make it." This means you should act like you are desirable until eventually you end up believing it. Remember that the most famous people, models included, are unique in some way, but proud of who they are.
