Introduction
- Homeschooling has become popular among many parents for a variety of reasons, including lower educational standards in certain states and overcrowding in schools. If you are concerned with your child's education and believe you are better equipped to teach them at home, then you will need to meet certain requirements set forth by your state. You should also have a plan of attack, knowing what school supplies to purchase and the specific curriculum you will be teaching. Step 1: Why Homeschool?
- Homeschooling is a full time job and should not be taken lightly. If you are considering homeschooling your child, you should reflect upon your true motivations and weigh the pros and cons before making the final decision. Parents often choose to homeschool their children for the following reasons:
- Increase in bullying
- Decline in public education
- Overcrowded schools
- Religious reasons. Many parents of certain religious sects choose to homeschool their children so they can implement biblical teachings into their curriculum. Many of these parents do not like the public school's focus on evolution, opting to instill the ideas of creationism instead.

- Every state has specific requirements for homeschooling, so it is essential that you determine whether or not you meet these requirements before going forward. The three main types of laws and requirements involving homeschooling include:

- Get a library card and encourage your children to read
- Create projects for your kids that will allow them to utilize their skills in various disciplines, including science, history, mathematics, etc.
- Communicate with your children. Find out what interests them the most and try and plan accordingly.
