Each year the Alabama Department of Revenue receives some 1.8 million income tax returns; more than half of these taxpayers receive refunds.http://www.ador.state.al.us/incometax/Expect.html
To get your refund faster, fill out all forms correctly -- common errors that can delay your refund include an incorrect name, address, social security number or missing signatureshttp://www.ador.state.al.us/ -- and it's best to submit state tax returns before March as refunds are generally processed faster those filed closer to the April 18, 2011, deadline.
While you have the option of mailing in your tax returns and receiving your refund via check, taxpayers who combine e-file and direct deposit can get their refunds in as few as 10 days.http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=105957,00.html
Some circumstances that can delay your refund include errors in your tax returns, owing money from prior years, debt collection processes and the Federal Refund Offset Program, which collects past-due child support payments from tax refunds.http://www.revenue.alabama.gov/incometax/2010_forms/10f40abk.pdf
