Taping Information
"The Colbert Report" tapes Monday through Thursday in midtown New York City on 54th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. Doors open at 6PM to let in ticket holders, but it is recommended that you line up at 4PM to make sure you get a seat.c
Online Tickets
The only way to obtain tickets to "The Colbert Report" with certainty is through an email request form on the website. If you do not see any tickets currently available, bookmark the page and check back frequently to see if tickets have been released. You can also sign up here for an email notification about ticket availability.
You may want to check out fan sites of the show, like No Fact Zone, as well, seeing as they often have updates and Twitter feeds dedicated to informing avid watchers of ticket releases.
Note that, due to the extremely high demand for tickets to this show, individuals may only attend one taping every six months.c
Stand-By Tickets
Stand-by tickets are available the day of taping by standing in a specific stand-by line next to the line for regular ticket holders. The earlier you arrive, the greater the chance of nabbing a ticket, so get there no later than 4PM. These tickets are given out on a first come, first served basis only when regular ticket holders do not show.c
Colbert Report History
"The Colbert Report" is a fake, right-wing news program that airs weeknights on Comedy Central after "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Hosted by comedian Stephen Colbert you actually got his start on "The Daily Show," "The Colbert Report" has a large fan-following all its own since its premiere on October 17, 2005.
The show satirizes personality-driven, conservative political pundit programs that encompasses virtually every Fox News program, "The O'Reilly Factor" specifically. Colbert portrays a fictional version of himself that he has described as "a well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot."
"The Colbert Report" has been nominated for four Emmys in 2006, 2007 and 2008, as well as two Television Critics Association Awards and two Satellite Awards. Colbert also received media attention for his word "truthiness," which Merriam-Webster named the 2006 Word of the Year.c
