Have you heard all about the MySpace craze, and now you're ready to see first-hand what all the buzz is about? Joining is easy, and once you are a member you will have countless opportunities for networking and making new friends. If you're wondering how to get started on MySpace, this guide will tell you everything you need to know.

Introduction
- By now, nearly everyone who lives in America (or just about any other developed country) has heard about MySpace. Dubbed "A place for friends," the site allows users to create unique online profiles, and then make online friends or reconnect with old ones. Profiles highlight biographical basics and personal interests, and may be decorated with graphics reflecting members' tastes and styles. Getting started is pretty simple, and within an hour or two you can create a complete profile and start looking for friends.
Step 1: Create an Account
- Here's how to build your page, step by step:
- Go to MySpace.com
- Click on Sign Up in the upper right-hand corner
- Fill out the form
- Click on the Sign Up button under the form
- On the next screen, enter the letters and numbers you see into the text box
- Choose to invite friends from your address book by clicking Find Friends, or click Skip This Step if you don't wish to do this
- Check the email address you used to sign up
- Click on the link in the email (or copy and paste it to your browser) to confirm and be directed to your MySpace home page.
Step 2: Set Up Your Profile
- Now, you will need to add your info and photo to your profile.
- Go to Profile at the top of the page
- Click on Edit Profile from the drop-down menu.
- Here, you can enter information about yourself, including your occupation, hobbies and interests. To upload photos, go to Profile again, and click on My Photos. You can post and arrange images from here.
- Videos and play lists may also be uploaded, and you will find these categories under the Profile drop-down menu. Eventually, you may also want to experiment with different themes and layouts for your page. See How to Change MySpace Themes for help in this area.
Step 3: Make Friends
- Once your profile is set up, it's time to start making some friends! You can start by searching for people you know. Just enter their name or email address in the text box at the top of your home page, choose People from the drop-down menu, and click Search. You can also use the search feature to find people by age, gender, location, and other categories.
- You can even find people who share your interests by joining MySpace Groups. There are groups for hobbies, celebrities, politics, or just about anything else you can think of.
