Introduction
Do you spend your Saturday evenings watching the long-running, NBC comedic skit show Saturday Night Live? Have you dreamed of sitting in the audience, watching your favorite comedians in action? If so, and if you are planning a trip to New York City, then why not attend a taping of the show? This page will provide you with all the necessary information on how to get Saturday Night Live Tickets.
Performance Options
- Starting in September and extending through May, Saturday Night Live has two performances on Saturday nights that you can obtain tickets for. These performances include:
- Dress Rehearsals - These start at 8:00 p.m. with a studio arrival time of 6:30 p.m. Many people prefer to attend this taping because they will likely get to see additional skits that do not make the live show. This is due to NBC executives cutting certain skits because they deem them too inappropriate to air.http://www.nytix.com/TVShows/Current/SNL/tickets.html
- Live Taping. The live taping begins at 11:30 p.m. with a studio arrival time of 10:00 p.m.http://www.nytix.com/TVShows/Current/SNL/tickets.html
- Be aware that some Saturday nights are repeats, and no live show airs. Check the schedule ahead of time before planning to attend a taping.
Step 1: E-mail Saturday Night Live for Tickets
Beginning in August, you can e-mail Saturday Night Live for tickets. These tickets are distributed in lottery format, and you will be unable to request a specific date. If you are chosen to attend a taping, you will be notified by e-mail and sent two tickets for a specific taping date. All e-mail requests should be sent to: snltickets@nbcuni.com.
- Sidenote: some people do not believe people actually receive tickets to Saturday Night Live through this method, so if you are not notified, do not be surprised. The most popular method for obtaining a ticket is to get stand-by tickets.http://www.nytix.com/TVShows/Current/SNL/tickets.html
Step 2: Get Stand-By Tickets
- Stand-by tickets are the most popular and effective way for attending a taping of SNL. To get stand-by tickets, you will need to stand in line the day of the show. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. However, even if you are given a ticket, you still might not get in. If the host or musical guest of the show, for example, brings too many of their own people, or additional room is needed for certain skits on a given night, there may not be as much room for the audience. To obtain stand-by tickets:
- Arrive at the NBC Studios marquee at 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday of the taping you wish to attend.http://gonyc.about.com/od/tvtapings/p/snl_tickets.htm
- The address of NBC Studios is: 50th street side of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.http://gonyc.about.com/od/tvtapings/p/snl_tickets.htm
- You must be 16-years-old or older to attend a taping.http://gonyc.about.com/od/tvtapings/p/snl_tickets.htm
- Only one ticket is handed out per person, and does not guarantee admission. The ticket will either by for the 8:30 p.m. dress rehearsal or the 11:30 p.m. live taping.http://gonyc.about.com/od/tvtapings/p/snl_tickets.htm
Step 3: Additional Options
Additional options for obtaining tickets are also available, but these are all based on who you know.
- Guests. If you know the host of the show, or the musical guest appearing on the show on a given night, you can try obtaining tickets this way. On certain nights, stand-by tickets are hard to obtain because the show's host or musical guest have brought too many of their own 'people' to the taping.
- 'SNL Employees or Studio executives. If you know people who work on the crew of Saturday Night Live, or executives at NBC, you can likely obtain tickets this way.
