You can make your own ringtones from
music you already own, if your phone supports uploaded mp3 ringtones. All you have to do is select the part of the song you want to use as your ringtone and save it to your computer, then upload it to your phone. You'll need audio editing software, such as
Audacity.
- If the music is already on your computer as an mp3, copy it into a new folder.
- If your music is on a CD, rip it as a WAV file (Windows) or as an AIFF file (Mac), in a folder separate from the rest of your music. /Advanced/General.
- Download the LAME (open-source MP3 audio-compression software) library.
- Run Audacity
- Click Preferences, then Find Library
- Select the LAME Library.
- Select Open from the File menu, and click on the song you want for your ring tone.
- Highlight the 10 or 15 second portion of the song you'd like for your ring tone.
- Add effects from the Audacity Effects menu, if desired
- Select Export Selection as MP3 from the File menu.
- You can move the file to your phone using Bluetooth or a USB connection, or by emailing it or texting it to yourself.
- Add the ring tone to your phone's audio folder, and select it using Tools or Options
