Heading to a local basketball game is a great way to spend the day with family and friends while showing your support for your local team. As you may well know, tickets to basketball games can be expensive, but Mahalo's guide on how to get cheap basketball tickets will show you how to save some money on tickets to the next basketball game.

Introduction
- Although you may be keen to attend the next basketball game in your area, you may be a bit less so after seeing the bill for full-price basketball tickets. However, if you time your purchase right and investigate alternate methods of getting tickets, you may be able to find cheap seats to the big game.
Step 1: Timing is Everything
- Ticket offices may offer basketball tickets at reduced prices for certain games. The best time to find out about reduced price-tickets is during the off-season or right at the beginning of the season. Call your local ticket office and ask about reduced-price tickets which may be available:
- For early season games
- On special event days, such as family day or customer appreciation day
- If you purchase several tickets at once
- In packages
- Later in the season
Step 2: Go Online
- People who have bought tickets and then realize that they will not be able to attend the game will often resell their tickets. To find out about tickets available for resale, try checking:
- Your local classifieds
- Auction sites, such as eBay
- Sporting ticket sales sites
- Other classifieds and retail sites, such as Craigslist
Step 3: Go to the Venue Early
- Some ticket holders may find that they have extra tickets available before the game if their companions have backed out of plans or if they purchased more tickets than they needed. Try heading to the venue before the game to see if there are any people with extra tickets available for sale milling around. At the venue, you will likely run into scalpers—people who buy large blocks of tickets and then sell them at an inflated price. Although buying from scalpers is the least desirable way to get tickets, you may choose do to do if you are desperate. If you wait until the last minute, scalpers may be desperate to get rid of their extra tickets, so you may be able to purchase them fairly cheap.
